"The care mum received inspired me to join St Michael's Hospice Lottery"

A St Michael’s Hospice supporter says the incredible care provided to his mum was the inspiration behind him joining our Lottery.

Stephen Graham only signed up to the weekly draws in August but has just become our latest jackpot winner, receiving a cheque for £1,000.

He says he joined as a thank you to St Michael’s for the care shown to his mum, Michelle.

“Mum spent her final couple of weeks at St Michael’s earlier this year, and I could not have been more happy with the care she received,” said Stephen.

“There was just such a huge positive difference in the way she looked and felt after arriving at St Michael’s. It was incredible.

“Mum coming to St Michael’s also helped us as a family. Together with my siblings, we were caring for her around the clock. Mum wasn’t short of love from us all at home, but it was so much better for her to be at St Michael’s with doctors and nurses on hand.”

Stephen said Michelle’s friendly personality ensured she got to know the staff well, adding he couldn’t fault the dedication of those who work at the Hospice.

“Our whole experience with St Michael’s was so positive that, after mum died, I wanted to continue supporting them. I’ve completed a fundraiser for St Michael’s already this year, and signed up to the St Michael’s Hospice Lottery in the summer.

“I didn’t join to win, but it was a lovely surprise to receive that phone call.”
