Benny Bear plays a special role at St Michael’s Hospice by spreading joy and lifting spirits. Whether he’s giving cuddles, offering high-fives to patients, or attending fundraising events, Benny Bear loves making people smile. His enthusiasm for life brings light and laughter wherever he goes.
Benny’s favorite annual event is the Benny Bear Teddy Trail in Hereford! Each year, children are invited to help Benny find his 10 lost bear friends hiding around the town. The Teddy Trail is a fun-filled event that brings the community together, encouraging children and families to explore, laugh, and make memories together—all while supporting the invaluable work we do at St Michael’s Hospice.
Benny Bear and the Memory Bears
Benny Bear’s purpose goes beyond just making people smile. At St Michael’s Hospice, we understand that children and young people who have family members receiving hospice care may feel a range of emotions. To support these children, we offer Memory Bears—soft, cuddly keepsakes designed to provide lasting comfort and serve as a treasured memory.
These Memory Bears are given to children by their loved ones, creating a comforting and meaningful gift. Each bear comes with its own unique outfit, hand-knitted by our dedicated volunteers. Children are invited to choose an outfit for their bear, making the Memory Bear even more special. These bears are provided at no cost, thanks to the generous donations and dedicated support from our community.
