We would like to invite you, your family and friends to join us at at our free Light up a Life service.
Tuesday 2nd December at 5pm
Light up a Life offers a chance to come together with others who understand the experience of grieving the loss of a loved one. At the service, candles are lit, each representing the life and memories of someone special.
The service is an inclusive and beautiful occasion featuring music, readings, refreshments, and a moment of reflection for those who have held a special place in our hearts. Everyone is welcome to attend, regardless of their connection. The service is suitable for the entire family and we welcome people of all ages.
It’s free to attend, but as always, we’d love you to consider making a donation on the night if you are able to, to help us continue caring for people this Christmas.
After the service, you’ll have a chance to write a message on a wooden tree decoration to place on our tree, or to take home. You’ll also have a chance to view the Book of Remembrance, where the names of those remembered will be included.
This service is very popular, so we’d suggest you arrive by 4.45pm to secure your seat/s. We’d suggest you bring a torch and wrap up warm as the service is outdoors.
Please car-share where possible as the car park has limited spaces.
We’d ask that you pre-register to let us know you are coming so that we can accommodate numbers, but please be aware that this does not guarantee seating.
We welcome everyone to our services. If you are unable to donate this year but would still like to attend our Cathedral or Hospice service please complete the form below, call us on: 01432 851000 or email: events@smhospicehereford.org Please note, this is your interest in attending and is not a ticket or confirmation of a seat. We would always suggest you arrive early.

The dedication platform is a wonderful way to create a lasting memory of your loved one. You can even add a photo and wording, or share it automatically with friends and family on social media.
We ask for a minimum donation of £5 for every dedication made. This £5 could pay for a memory bear that is given out this Christmas to young family members of someone staying with us over the festive period. Meaning your donation, means the world of difference.
Your dedication will shine brightly on our virtual Christmas tree all over the festive period.
If you donate and dedicate before 5pm on Thursday 27th November, the names of those remembered will be included in:
1. The Books of Remembrance
The name of every person dedicated to before 5pm on Thursday will be added into our printed Books of Remembrance. These will be on display to view at both of our Light up a Life services of Remembrance, here at our Hospice and at Hereford Cathedral.
2. The Wall of Remembrance
The name of every person dedicated to before 5pm on Thursday 27th November will be added onto our Wall of Remembrance. This is installed on the railings of Hereford Cathedral from 10th December until early January for you to go and visit.
