Visiting your loved-one

Here at St Michael’s Hospice, we do everything we can to create a friendly, homely atmosphere. You are welcome to visit your loved one at our hospice at any time, and we welcome children and pets. If you are bringing pets, please let us know in advance.

Our Inpatient rooms have their own private garden areas and in warm weather, you are more than welcome to bring a picnic to really enjoy the space.

We love to see your pets here at St Michael’s and throughout the years have welcomed every sort of animal you can imagine! We welcome pets to visit their owners and feel that it’s really important to help patients to live well and enjoy their time with us.

If you’re bringing a pet, please ring ahead to let us know so that we can make sure that we can accommodate their needs. Please keep dogs on leads at all times and bring your waste bags for any toilet needs they will have.

If using the gardens, please keep to the paths with dogs on leads and we would ask you to clean up and dog mess.

We love to see children at the Hospice, and we welcome children of all ages. Whilst here, there are refreshments within the cafe and ample outdoor space. We also have a children’s and a teen room where children can go and spend time. They include books, games, board games and activities.

All pathways and walkways are accessible for pushchairs and buggies. If you are exploring the garden, please keep to the paths.

Parking is free and on-site, please follow the signs to visitor parking.

If you have an electric vehicle, we have charging points on site, these are located just passed the disabled car parking near the entrance to the building. All pathways are clearly marked when walking from the car park to the entrance.

We have a cafe on-site located just next to reception. The cafe is open 24hrs, 7 days a week and is self-service at present. The cafe is stocked with a range of sandwiches, refreshments and snacks. Once you have selected your items, please make payment at the Reception desk where we accept cash and card payments.

When Reception is not manned (5.00pm until 9am the following day) cash payments can be made via the honesty box within the cafe.

There is indoor and outdoor seating and you are welcome to use both.

Whilst here, you are more than welcome to explore our beautiful landscaped gardens. If you have a pet with you, we would appreciate it if you could keep dogs on leads and clean up any mess.
Please keep to the paths at all times, this is for your own safety and to protect our wonderful landscape.

All of our paths are accessible and wheelchair friendly. You can access the outdoor spaces via the pathway from bedrooms or through the cafe.

A relatives’ room with an en-suite bathroom is available to family members of very poorly patients who wish to stay overnight. Please speak to one of the Care Team if you would like to use this.
