Tour de Hereford: Choose your route, choose your distance
Cyclists of all ages and abilities are being invited to become a fundraising tour de force for St Michael’s Hospice.
We are asking supporters to let the world’s most famous cycle race inspire them to ride as far as they can between 29thAugust – 20th September.
There are four suggested distances to be attempted – 40, 150, 400 or 700kms – but any challenge length is permitted, with cyclists encouraged to collect sponsorship for St Michael’s.
‘Cycling has seen a real resurgence since lockdown, particularly here with many people saddling up to enjoy the beautiful countryside Herefordshire and its borders offers,’ said Matt Ashcroft, the Hospice’s Events and Community Fundraising Manager.
‘Tour de Hereford offers everyone the chance to feed that hobby.
‘You can go as far as you like. It might be a gentle ten kilometres in a day, or several hundred kilometres over a couple of weeks.
‘You can do this on your own, or with your family and other members of your social bubble. We just ask that you get sponsored, have fun and raise as much money as possible for St Michael’s Hospice.’
After registering, cyclists will be invited to join the Hospice event group on Strava where riders must log their Tour de Hereford rides.
There will be various prizes on offer, including a personalised yellow jersey to the fundraiser who collects the most money.
