St Michael’s unveils medi UK as Title Sponsor of Venus Walk 2021

St Michael’s Hospice is delighted to welcome back medi UK as title sponsor of the Venus midnight walk.

Each year, the ladies-only event raises tens of thousands of pounds for Herefordshire’s Hospice, with strong ticket sales for this summer’s event, on Friday 9th July, already suggesting a record turnout.

Hereford-based business, medi UK, is sponsoring the event this year with many of their employees signing up to take part. As a local Hereford employer, medi UK recognises how valuable the charity is to the local community.

Director, Ian Grant commented:
“medi UK is delighted to be sponsoring the Venus midnight walk this year and supporting St Michael’s Hospice to continue their important work,’ he said. ‘Many of our team at medi UK have experienced this wonderful charity and we wish all those taking part in the event this year, the very best of luck.”

Venus moves from autumn to summer for the first time this year, with a choice of three circular routes – 5K, 10K and 15K – all beginning from Hereford Leisure Centre.

Diane Maddy, medi UK’s HR Manager, has completed the walk before and is looking forward to taking part again with colleagues, “I love taking part in the Venus midnight walk,’ she said. ‘It’s so much fun and a great way to raise much-needed funds for St Michael’s. Team medi UK is up for the challenge this year.”

medi UK sponsored the event back in 2012, and the Hospice says it is looking forward to strengthening the strong bond which already exists between the two.

“We’re thrilled to have medi UK on board. We thank them for their support, and we particularly look forward to seeing them walking with us on the night,” said Simon Kershaw, Events & Community Fundraising Officer.

Supporters are encouraged to raise as much sponsorship as possible for St Michael’s after signing up.
