WATCH: “One of dad’s dying wishes was for me to skydive for St Michael’s”

“St Michael’s gave us everything we could have wanted at the worst time, and made it just so much easier. This skydive is for them."

“St Michael’s gave us everything we could have wanted at the worst time, and made it just so much easier. This skydive is for them.”

Anna Williams hates heights, but says she is determined to carry out her dad’s wishes of jumping out of a plane this summer during a thrill-seeking fundraiser.

Andrew Lewis, Anna’s dad, spent his final weeks at St Michael’s earlier this year.

During a chat between Anna, Andrew and the Rev Angie Kateley, the idea of a skydive came up – and there was no going back.

“Dad mentioned to Angie, the Reverend from our local church who came to lead a communion service for dad at St Michael’s, that we should both do a skydive to raise money for St Michael’s,” said Anna.

“I hate heights, yet I said; ‘let’s go for it’. It’s the least I can do to thank St Michael’s. The care they provided was above and beyond. We really felt as though dad was at home when he was here. Nothing was too much trouble, and I just want to give back a little something that they gave us.”

The group has grown to about 15, and includes Anna’s sister, Lauren, and Mike Pullin, the renowned St Michael’s fundraiser who is a friend of Anna’s family and, aged 89, is also planning on doing the skydive.

The group held a Vicar of Dibley-themed quiz night which raised almost £2,500 towards their £10,000 target.
