Jodie’s Half Marathon fundraiser is a thank you to St Michael’s for organising wedding blessing so her poorly mum could watch
When Jodie Williams’ mum suffered a rapid decline in health whilst staying with us, it became clear she might not witness her daughter’s wedding to sweetheart Joe.
But in less than 24 hours, staff here arranged a moving ceremony which ensured Chelle was able to view a beautiful wedding blessing.
“Mum was overjoyed to witness us get married, and that day brought her immense joy and peace in her final weeks,” said Jodie.
That was last summer. This weekend, Jodie and Joe will take to the streets of the Welsh capital to take part in the Oysho Cardiff Half Marathon, raising funds for the Hospice which cared for Chelle.
“In her last days, the Hospice team ensured that Mum remained comfortable and pain-free,” added Jodie. “We are endlessly grateful to St Michael’s Hospice for allowing our mum to pass away surrounded by expert care and with a sense of calm and dignity that brought her, and us, great comfort.”
