This evidence-based course provides you with a range of mindfulness and compassion skills to nourish and resource you – helping you manage your health and reduce the suffering, stress and anxiety associated with pain and illness.
What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness offers the possibility of noticing and feeling happiness as we become more fully appreciative of each moment. The NHS’s NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) guidelines advocates the use of Mindfulness in dealing with stress, anxiety and depression, helping us enjoy life more. Mindfulness is increasingly used for those living with both acute and chronic pain, and long-term illness.
How can Mindfulness help you?
Mindfulness can bring about long-term changes in mood and increase levels of happiness and wellbeing. It focuses on forms of meditation which include concentrating your attention on the sensations of your breath and body.
- you will learn to live in the present moment and breathe into your experience, rather than tensing against it
- You will learn to respond rather than react to life’s challenges
