Hereford Veteran Support Centre increase in popularity
News comes on the back of St Michael’s becoming NHS Veteran Aware accredited
St Michael’s has always been proud of its relationship with the Armed Forces community in Herefordshire and surrounding areas.
In an accreditation letter to St Michael’s from General Lord Richard Dannett and Professor Tim Briggs, they say the Veteran Aware award recognises “your work identifying and sharing best practice across the NHS and demonstrating the best standards of care for the Armed Forces community”.
Veteran Aware accreditation is awarded to NHS Trusts and independent providers with the aim of improving care for veterans, ensuring they are not disadvantaged in accessing services.
Our role in supporting veterans is demonstrated by the growing popularity of a coffee morning held each month at St Michael’s by Hereford Veterans Support Centre.
Herefordshire has one of the UK’s largest Armed Forces communities, with many facing challenges such as loneliness, limited employment opportunities, adjustments to civilian life, and mental health concerns.
Hereford Veteran Support Centre addresses these issues, offering accessible, empathetic and impactive support.
The next coffee morning is Monday 16th February at St Michael’s in Bartestree (HR1 4HA). This will have a Pancake Day theme. Open to all from 10.30am. No need to book.
