Grandmother-to-be "shocked" after winning Lottery jackpot

Grandmother-to-be “shocked” after winning Lottery jackpot

Elizabeth Owen found out she had won our Lottery jackpot on the day she was due to become a grandmother.

Some of her family live in Sweden and so part of the £1,000 jackpot will be used to fund a trip to see her son, partner and little grandchild. She hasn’t seen her family for two years due to Covid restrictions.

“Receiving the phone call to be told I’d won the £1,000 jackpot was a great surprise,” said Elizabeth, who lives in Hereford.
“I was expecting a call from my son that day, although in the end, baby didn’t make an appearance on the due date!”

Elizabeth has also donated some of the winnings to the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal and given some back to St Michael’s.

“I’ve had three close friends who have received care at St Michael’s Hospice, and one who benefitted from the Hospice at Home service. On each occasion the care, both for the patient and their loved ones, was exemplary.

“This experience of St Michael’s has been a valuable experience for me. It has given me confidence and reassurance. I know now that if I ever require the care of the Hospice, I have nothing to fear. It is such a special place.

“I joined the Hospice Lottery as a way of making a regular donation towards the work of the organisation and as a way of saying thank you.”

You can join Elizabeth in playing the St Michael’s Hospice Lottery. Each Friday you will be in the hat to win the £1,000 top prize, plus other cash prizes.
