Step into Spring by taking on a 5K, 11K, 16K or a distance of your choosing over the Big Spring Weekend, 19th to 22nd March and raise vital funds for St Michael’s Hospice.
Open to all ages and abilities, the Big Spring Walk is free to enter in advance with sponsorship encouraged for all taking part.
You can set up a JustGiving page to collect sponsorship here. Everyone who raises over £30 will receive a Big Spring Walk 2021 medal. £30 covers the cost of a 45 minute session with our in-house physiotherapy team to help our patients stay mobile and able to walk for longer.
This is a ‘virtual’ event so you can choose your route and distance but please be mindful of the latest Covid restrictions and consider health and safety when you’re route planning.
We’d love to share your Big Spring Walk experience with you so you can sign up to our Strava group to log your walk and share your selfies, or email us at events@smhospicehereford.org
Every penny you raise makes a difference to St Michael’s Hospice. £500 will pay for our Nursing Team to care for someone in our Inpatient Unit for 24 hours. £15 will provide a day’s worth of nutritious food cooked in the Hospice kitchens.
No matter how many times you’ve been out for a daily walk during lockdown, make this one count.
St Michael’s Hospice provides all its care free of charge to patients, their families and carers.
This care is made possible by supporters taking part in fundraising events like the Big Spring Walk, shopping at our retail outlets, playing the Hospice Lottery, making charitable donations and leaving gifts in their wills.
To raise money for your Hospice and help us continue to care, please download the sponsor form opposite, or set up a JustGiving page here, then ask your friends, family and work colleagues to sponsor you.

Whilst I’ve been a country walker for over 20 years, the benefit of the exercise it offers has taken on even greater significance since Covid.
During the confinement and strictures of the pandemic what can be more of a release than the healthy delight of walking in our local countryside?
Perhaps we can all do our Captain Sir Tom Moore bit to support St Michael’s.

When our Big Spring Walk was cancelled last year Caz Holbrook, her son Finn and her sister Penny Minchin, took on their own 17km 2020 Big Spring Walk and raised more than £350 for St Michael’s.
‘The inspiration behind our walk was the amazing care given to my, and Penny’s parents Sheila and Martyn Holbrook and Finn’s dad Andrew Olsen, who all died at St Michael’s’ said Caz. ‘The Hospice is close to our hearts, and the walk is a wonderful memory and achievement that we will remember for many years to come.’
