Ann's degree success at 81 – a story in spirit and determination
Ann's remarkable achievement comes just months after her daughter died at St Michael's, and as she faces her own terminal illness
We have a celebrity in our midst!
You may have heard about Ann Gabb who, at the age of 81, has completed a BA (Hons) Open degree, receiving a rapturous reception from over 2,000 people during her graduation ceremony in Birmingham’s Symphony Hall.
Ann’s achievement is made all the more incredible given that her daughter, Wendy, died here at St Michael’s earlier this year. Ann herself is living with her own terminal illness.
We were delighted to welcome Ann back to St Michael’s as a regular visitor at our Friday Living Well groups.
She is the very definition of spirit and determination – she even enjoyed a session of horse riding recently! – and we couldn’t be happier for her.
