A Christmas Thank You from St Michael's

A Christmas Thank You from St Michael’s

This is a message to thank you for supporting St Michael’s Hospice and to wish you a Merry Christmas.

Because of you, we have been able to ‘keep our doors open’ throughout the pandemic, providing care and support to families in our community living with a terminal illness. This will not stop.

At St Michael’s this year we’ve experienced visitor restrictions, event cancellations, shop closures with the associated drop in revenue, and the need to change the way we do things, and even the environment we do them in.

Throughout all this though, there has been hope.

In fact, wherever I look around St Michael’s, I see hope, dedication and a determination to continue.

I’ve seen it with the care provided on our Inpatient Ward, by our Hospice at Home team, and in the community by our Day Services staff.

I’ve seen it from our Fundraising team, putting smiles on the faces of all ages through our Christmas Lights display, our Santa and Reindeer Runs, and Father Christmas’s video calls to children.

And I’ve seen it from you, our generous, loyal supporters. You haven’t let anything stop you raising money for your Hospice.

For every Christmas Draw ticket you bought; every bargain you’ve picked up in our shops and every pound that’s put into a collecting tin, can I say a big Thank You.

I wish you could see all the letters and comments we receive from people whose lives have been transformed, if only for a short time sometimes, by your Hospice. This can’t happen without your support.

Nobody quite knows what 2021 will bring, but with supporters like you, I know we have nothing to fear.

I hope you have a safe and peaceful Christmas and I would also like to take this opportunity to remind you to watch our online Light up a Life service, which you can view here.

It’s a beautiful service filled with love and moments to remember that has touched all those who have watched it.

I look forward to when we can be back together again next year.
