Watch: Brothers describe what St Michael’s means to them

The Richard Matravers Memorial Charity Cricket Match: A history

Brothers Adam and Robert Matravers have helped raise thousands of pounds for St Michael’s by staging an annual cricket match with friends.

The latest in the series, which dates back to 2012, takes place on Sunday, 24th August, just down the road from St Michael’s itself.

Adam and Robert set-up the annual match in memory of their cricket-mad father, Richard, who died at St Michael’s.

Each summer, the twins gather friends, relatives and colleagues for a game, with a brother captaining each team.

The matches took on even greater significance in 2017 when Adam and Robert’s mum, Mim, also died at St Michael’s.

“Each year, Rob and I are overwhelmed by the support we receive at these matches,” said Adam. “They’re great fun, and we get to spend time with friends and family whilst raising money for St Michael’s.”

As in recent years, this year’s encounter will take place at Bartestree & Lugwardine Cricket Club from 1pm.

Free admission. All welcome.

There will also be a raffle and auction for St Michael’s.
