Venus returns for it’s 16th year of painting Hereford’s streets pink! Grab your glowsticks, bring your friends, and have the ultimate girl’s night out with us.
What to expect
The Venus Midnight walk is one of our most-popular events! In 2024 it returns for its 16th year and will be extra special, as it’s also commemorating 40 years of St Michael’s Hospice. Venus is a walk around Hereford adorned in pink. The brighter you are the better, as we aim to light up the streets of Hereford with our sea of pink-ladies walking together in remembrance or just for fun!
But wait, there’s more! Before the walk begins, deck yourself out in pink with our fabulous merchandise and face glitter, and grab a refreshing drink to get in the mood. Don’t forget to visit the memory garden station, a poignant touch added to all three routes. With music and a vibrant summer evening atmosphere, it’s an experience you won’t want to miss!
Who's invited?
Women and girls aged 12 and above! Take your pick from three scenic routes around Hereford, with entertainment, warm-ups, and delightful treats awaiting you along the way. All starting and ending at Hereford Leisure Centre, it’s a night of camaraderie and fun.

Choose the 5K
Choose the fast and flat 5K! Ideal for little legs or those of you who just want a fun and easy gently stroll.
Choose the 10K
Choose the 10K and light up the night sky as the sun goes down and you explore the city at night.
Choose the 15K
Challenge yourself and light up the midnight sky as you take on our longest route all over the city.
Everything you need to know
- All children aged 12-16 need to be accompanied by a participating adult.
- Every participant will get a Welcome pack. This will include your Venus pink T-Shirt. These can be posted out to you (P&P cost) or can be collected from the hospice before the event.
- All packs will be posted or available to collect from 30th June. If you sign up after the 1st July, you will have to collect your pack from the Hospice.

Join us for the Venus Midnight Walk, a thrilling nocturnal adventure through the city streets. Here’s our schedule for the evening:
- 9:00 pm: Registration opens for the 15km walk.
- 9:30 pm: Registration opens for the 10km walk.
- 9:40 pm: Registration opens for the 5km walk.
- 10:25 pm: Warm-up session commences.
- 10:30 pm: The 15km walk begins.
- 10:50 pm: The 10km walk begins.
- 11:10 pm: The 5km walk begins.
While the completion time varies depending on individual walking speeds, we anticipate all participants finishing their chosen distance by 2:00 am. Throughout the evening, warm-up activities will continue intermittently.
Both the 5km and 10km routes traverse city streets and sidewalks, making them wheelchair-accessible, although participation in this regard is at one’s own discretion. Please note that dogs are not permitted on any of the routes. Join us for a night to remember!
We would love you to get as much sponsorship as you can for your walk! Every penny raised helps us to care for more people across Herefordshire. You can gather sponsorship using our easy JustGiving page, and you can send the link to friends and family to support you. Anyone who raises over £120 (must book before May 1st) can get their hands on a limited addition personalised 40th anniversary hoodie!
Please note the following terms and conditions:
- Participation in the event is restricted to females aged 12 years and above. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult.
- Dogs are not permitted at the event.
- The walk involves physical exertion. Participants should only undertake a distance commensurate with their level of fitness. It is advisable to seek medical advice beforehand if necessary.
- Upon signing in on the event day, participants are required to follow the designated route and return to the finish line at the conclusion of their walk. Participants may interact with marshals during the walk if assistance is needed.
