Stitched with love – Jenny gives Memory Bears a festive touch

Memory Bears receive festive look thanks to generous volunteer

For many years, our Memory Bears have provided a source of comfort to countless young people whose relatives are being cared for by us.

Now, they’ve received a festive touch thanks to one of our very generous knitters.

Jenny Macklin has created and donated dozens of Christmassy outfits for the bears, which are given to patients on both our Inpatient Unit, and those being cared for at home. The Bears can then be passed to younger loved ones as a tangible memory of their relative or friend, which lives on for years.

“I just love doing knitting these outfits, and to think it provides a bit of comfort to people means so much,” said Jenny, who in the last couple of years has knitted well over 600 Memory Bear outfits for St Michael’s.

You might have received your own Memory Bear from us.
You can let us know in the comments.

*Thanks to Jenny, and many others, we are currently fully stocked with bear outfits.
