If you wish to spend time with one of the Team, they can be there for you. We will always do our best to listen carefully and provide a safe, secure and confidential environment.

If you would like, we can also contact a leader of a particular faith or philosophy on your behalf.

Here for you

A member of the Spiritual Care Team is usually available in the Inpatient Unit on weekdays, Sunday mornings and during most Day Hospice sessions, or by request via any of the Hospice services.

If you would like, we can also arrange to meet you somewhere private. It is often possible to visit you at home.

The Iona Room (Chapel)

The Iona Room is a place for prayer and a space to find peace and quiet. You can ask a member of the Spiritual Care Team to pray with you, lead a service for you or simply keep you company.

The Iona Room is a place for you to:

  • light a candle in memory of a loved one
  • write a name, message or prayer and hang it on the metalwork apple tree
  • write in the message book
  • contribute to the Blessings Book
  • read the Book of Remembrance
  • browse and borrow a selection of books
  • play music
  • enjoy the etched windows, views and tranquillity

Confidentiality

Confidentiality enables you to build trust with the person offering you spiritual care, so you feel able to talk about your deepest beliefs, thoughts and feelings. There may be occasions when we need to pass on limited information to other professionals. We would talk this over with you before doing so.
