RUN Hereford – edging closer to the start line

RUN Hereford – edging closer to the start line

Runners from across the region are gearing up for the return of Hereford’s largest running event.

RUN Hereford last took place in May 2019 when hundreds of people helped raise tens of thousands of pounds for St Michael’s Hospice.

Last summer, a scaled-back RUN It Your Way was held for the Bartestree-based Hospice, but on Sunday 19th September the full event returns to Hereford’s Livestock Market.

‘We hope everyone’s as excited as us to welcome runners back,’ said Matt Ashcroft, the Hospice’s Events and Community Fundraising Manager.

‘RUN Hereford attracts all ages and abilities, with entrants tackling either a Half Marathon, 10K or 5K.

‘The courses are challenging but fun, with each runner guaranteed a warm welcome back to the Livestock Market where they’ll be greeted by a throng of fellow runners and Hospice supporters.’

Each runner benefits from chip-timing, marshalled routes, a finishers’ medal and post-run goodies.

‘It’s been great to see the return of our Events calendar this summer,’ Matt added.

‘Venus, Paint Runner and our Open Gardens have been brilliantly supported by our community, and it looks as though RUN will follow suit.

‘It’s important to remember that everyone taking part, together with those who have sponsored our runners, are helping St Michael’s continue to care for those living with a terminal illness.

‘On behalf of them, we’d like to say a huge thank you. We can’t wait to see you all on the 19th September.’

Event sponsors Western Power Distribution have confirmed their continued sponsorship of the event, which stretches back almost a decade.
