Pottering in the garden made possible thanks to supporters like Hellens Garden Festival

Beautiful raised planters have been installed for our patients

It’s important to us that patients continue to do the things they love while at St Michael’s.

Many enjoy pottering in the garden but fear they will miss out on their favourite hobby during their stay.

Now, thanks to the installation of wheelchair-friendly raised planters, patients can indulge their green-fingered passion just a stone’s throw from their room or our Day Services.

Projects like this are made possible thanks to the backing of supporters like the Hellens Garden Festival. Since launching 17 years ago, the annual two-day Festival in Much Marcle has donated over £100,000 to St Michael’s. This incredible funding has helped enable projects like the raised beds, which align with Hellens’ ethos of sustainability and embracing the outdoors.

The raised planters were installed by Ian and David from DM Property Maintenance (pictured above). The planters are next to a popular Therapy Greenhouse, which opened last year.

It is directly outside our IPU ensuring easy access, even to patients in their beds.

This year’s Hellens Garden Festival takes place on 8th – 9th June and has the theme Waste to Wonder.
