Tim Block and his daughter Nicola Wakefield came in recently to present St Michael’s Hospice with a cheque for an incredible £12,039.

The family raised the money in memory of Katie Block who died on 1st October 2019 after a long battle with cancer.

They took on the Offa’s Dyke Walk, around 50 miles over three days of the August Bank Holiday, from Monmouth to Kington via Pandy and Hay-on-Wye. Bert and Wendy Priday of Kington Golf Club also arranged a Golf Day in memory of Katie to reflect her love of golf.

Stuart Block, Katies son said: “Walking (especially with a golf club in hand) was a real passion of hers and something she really missed being able to do in her final months. Walking in her memory, finishing at Kington Golf Club (where we scattered her ashes on a windy Christmas Eve) therefore seems an appropriate way to celebrate her life. St Michael’s Hospice is an amazing place with wonderful staff, who made Mum’s final weeks as comfortable as possible”.
