MandM Direct announced as Sue Parry tournament’s Title Sponsor

One of the region’s biggest football tournaments has scored an early boost after securing Herefordshire-based sports and fashion giant MandM Direct as its Title Sponsor.

The six-a-side Sue Parry football tournament has raised close to £100,000 for St Michael’s Hospice over the past 20 years. This year’s event, on Sunday 27th June at Hereford Hereford Leisure Centre, looks set to be one of the most popular yet with many junior sections already sold out.

The sponsorship agreement is a huge coup for Bartestree-based St Michael’s. Their new teammate delivers over 7 million parcels a year to 4 million customers in the UK and Europe.

‘We cannot thank MandM Direct enough for lending their support to this year’s Sue Parry tournament,’ said Simon Kershaw, the Hospice’s Events & Community Fundraising Officer.

‘To have a household name like MandM Direct associated with this event only serves to underline the strength and standing of the tournament. We can’t wait to have them on board and we look forward to a great day of football and fundraising.’

The tournament is open to adult and junior players, with money raised going straight to the patient care provided by St Michael’s.

Twenty four-year-old Sue Parry received care from the Hospice before she died in July 1999 after contracting cancer. The six-a-side tournament was set up in her name.

‘We are delighted to be the headline sponsor of the St Michael’s Hospice Sue Parry Football Festival,’ said Damian Evans, CEO of MandM Direct, which employs over 800 people across its head office in Leominster, and Distribution Centre in Moreton-on-Lugg. â€˜As a Herefordshire business it is fantastic to be able to support St Michael’s Hospice, who do such important work across the county. A number of our colleagues know first-hand how vital the support St Michael’s Hospice provides is and so it is great to be able to help with their fundraising after such a difficult year.’
