Local martial arts champion to host charity sparring event
In a unique celebration of his 18th birthday, local martial artist Vaughan Cresswell is taking on a challenge like no other: sparring with 50 people in a single afternoon to raise funds for St Michael’s Hospice. Vaughan, a dedicated member of Matt Hudd’s Martial Arts Club since he was 11, has achieved his black belt in kickboxing and now even coaches younger students at the club. For his milestone birthday, Vaughan wanted to make an impact by supporting a cause close to his heart.
Inspired by the Hospice’s commitment to providing vital care and support to those facing terminal illness, Vaughan has chosen to dedicate his birthday to fundraising for St Michael’s Hospice. Every donation made will go directly towards the Hospice’s work, helping to ensure that patients and families in our community receive the compassionate, expert care they deserve.
“I wanted to do something meaningful for my 18th birthday,” Vaughan explains.
“St Michael’s Hospice does such important work, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to support them in my own way. Martial arts have taught me resilience, strength, and the importance of giving back. I’m excited to put my skills to the test for this great cause.”
The sparring event promises to be both exciting and demanding, as Vaughan takes on 50 participants throughout the afternoon. Supporters, friends, and members of the local community are invited to sponsor him, with all proceeds going directly to St Michael’s Hospice.
