Local Lottery Winner Celebrates Big Win While Supporting a Cause Close to Her Heart
Days out planned for latest St Michael’s Hospice Lottery winner
Mrs Locking was all smiles when she received her winning cheque for the St Michael’s Hospice Lottery draw.
A regular player since the lottery began, she’s had a few smaller wins over the years – but this was the ‘big one’, and her joy when we shared the news was unforgettable.
Mrs Locking began playing the lottery after being diagnosed with breast cancer. At the time, she felt a strong desire to give something back to the local community, and the Hospice felt like the natural choice. She had long admired the work of Freda Pearce, one of the early driving forces behind the idea and fundraising that brought St Michael’s Hospice into being.
While she’s (touch wood) never needed to use the Hospice’s services herself, Mrs Locking is very aware of the vital role we play across Herefordshire and beyond. She’s a familiar face at events like the annual Plant Fair and often calls in to our Whitestone store for a coffee and a hunt for a bargain.
Following the loss of her husband a few years ago, and after a lifetime spent raising a family, caring for her mother, and supporting her almost teenage granddaughter, Mrs Locking says this win has come at just the right time. She plans to treat her family to a special lunch and spend the rest on holidays and days out – making memories and enjoying some well-earned time for herself.
We’re absolutely delighted for Mrs Locking, and incredibly grateful for her continued support. It’s thanks to players like her that we’re able to provide care, compassion, and support to people across our community when they need it most.
Start each Friday with the chance of winning £1,000 by entering the St Michael’s Hospice Lottery.
