Light up a Life Wall of Remembrance at Hereford Cathedral

Light up a Life Wall of Remembrance at Hereford Cathedral

A Wall of Remembrance containing the names of hundreds of people being remembered this Christmas has been erected in the centre of Hereford.

The display outside Hereford Cathedral is part of Light up a Life, an annual remembrance campaign by St Michael’s Hospice.

The names of those remembered by Hospice supporters have also been placed on a dedicated Light up a Light website.

The Wall of Remembrance can be viewed on railings outside the Cathedral’s West Door, just off Broad Street.

“The Wall is already proving popular and for many I think it provides a tangible link to loved ones,” said Jill Groves, the Hospice’s Lead Chaplain.

“People just like to visit it to find the names of those they’ll be remembering.

“Of course, those we miss are always in our thoughts, but at this time of the year it feels particularly poignant to remember those who will forever have a special place in our hearts.”

The Wall was erected in time for the Hospice’s Light up a Life service at Hereford Cathedral, which took place behind closed doors, although supporters were able to tune in live thanks to a web stream provided free of charge by Herefordshire-based CJP Broadcast Service Solutions Ltd.

Those visiting the Wall can scan a QR code beside it to post their own virtual dedication or to donate to St Michael’s.

The Wall of Remembrance will be taken down on Tuesday, 4th January.
