Holiday cottage stay for Hospice staff and patients' loved ones

Holiday cottage stay for Hospice staff and patients’ loved ones

When Nicola Griscti’s father died at St Michael’s, she knew she wanted to help ease the pain others like her were going through. So, the property developer has decided to offer her beautiful holiday cottage in the Southern Welsh valleys at up to 50 per cent off for patients’ loved ones in need of a break.

‘Sometimes, we all need a physical get away from the same four walls, perhaps more so now after such a difficult year. I’d like Attenborough Cottage, which is close to Tredegar, to be just that – for many people, but especially those who could probably use it more than most.’

Nicola witnessed first-hand the care provided to her father, Mark Mullin, and her wider family at St Michael’s, and is also offering discount to Hospice staff as a thank you.

‘The staff were incredibly friendly, kind, highly-skilled and understanding,’ she said. ‘The Bereavement Support team at St Michael’s has also been frequently in touch with all of us in Mark’s immediate family. I was very shocked but impressed that so many services and so much help was available, and we are so grateful.’

Nicola and her family were told the news of her father’s terminal diagnosis last August. He died in November, aged just 62.

‘I think of him every single day. He was a charitable man. My mother is charitable too and volunteered at the Hospice before the pandemic. Whatever we can do to give back to St Michael’s we will absolutely and proudly do.’

Attenborough Cottage offers panoramic views and is luxuriously furnished and fitted.
