Grand ending to half-term break for Lottery winner Sarah

“St Michael’s means a lot to me” says Sarah whose uncle was cared for by St Michael’s

A half-term break for teacher Sarah Caldwell had a grand ending when she became our latest Lottery winner.

Sarah was with her family in Cornwall when the St Michael’s Hospice Lottery team phoned her to say she’d just won the £1,000 jackpot.

“We were beside the beach eating a bacon butty when my phone rang! It was a lovely surprise,” said Sarah.

“St Michael’s means a lot to me, and my family. My Uncle, John Bradford, died at the Hospice a few years ago. It’s such a friendly, welcoming place where I knew my uncle was safe.

“The care he received was just priceless, and it was so lovely for his family to be around him at that time.”

Sarah joined our Lottery shortly after to continue her support. Her job as a teacher at Broadlands Primary School in Hereford also helps to keep St Michael’s in her mind.

“Each year, the children take part in the St Michael’s Hospice Rudolph Run and have great fun donning the reindeer hats and noses.

“It helps ensure St Michael’s is often a topic of conversation for me, both at school and home, which can only be a good thing.”
