From global banking to grass roots support – how HSBC is supporting St Michael’s Hospice
International banking giant HSBC is lending us a helping hand by offering to apply for funding to aid part of our garden makeover.
The work is an ongoing project led by a team of Hospice volunteers who are giving up their own time to create improvements in the grounds here in Bartestree.
Staff from the Hereford branch of HSBC, including ‘Community Banker Super Stars’ Mel Beddard and Lucy Edwards, visited St Michael’s recently to view the garden.
‘We saw the fantastic transformation that is happening in their gardens, and we were able to talk to the team about how this project will help their patients, families and friends,’ said Adam Rooke, HSBC’s Network Manager, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire market.
‘The afternoon was inspiring, and in the two short hours I was there talking to the team it made me realise what really is important.
‘I want to highlight Mel and Lucy. They have worked so hard organising this visit and arranging future volunteering opportunities, and also the application for the funding.’
Tony Larkin, Grants & Trusts Officer at St Michael’s, has thanked HSBC for their generosity.
‘It was wonderful to meet the team, and so heartening to hear how keen they are to support their Hospice.
‘We look forward to welcoming them back to St Michael’s as volunteers in the near future, and seeing how their generosity will help our gardens become even more beautiful.’
