A sprinkling of stardust arrived at St Michael’s when the co-founder of rock giants Mott the Hoople dropped by.

Verden Allen presented us with over £3,300 – the proceeds of a weekend-long festival in Ross-on-Wye celebrating the Herefordshire musicians, who rose to fame in the late Sixties and Seventies, making their name with the hit song All The Young Dudes, which was written by David Bowie.

The Ross festival was called Mottfest and its organiser, Simon Rowberry, joined Verden here at St Michael’s to present the proceeds.

They said St Michael’s holds a special place in the band’s heart as it was where Pete Overend Watts – bass guitarist and fellow Mott founder – died back in 2017.
