Thanks to the generosity of a group of early pledgers, every donation made during our 40-hour sprint will be matched! This means your support will have twice the impact, helping to ensure that no one has to face the end of life alone.
Join your community, family and friends to help us raise £400,000 in just 40 hours!
In just a few days (31st !) St Michael’s Hospice celebrates a big birthday,
our 40th.
That’s 14,600 days that we have cared for someone, held a hand, made final wishes possible or relieved fear, pain or loneliness.
For 350,400 hours, we’ve been here for the people of Herefordshire in every way possible.
To mark this occasion, we are not putting up streamers and banners, instead we’re asking you to help make sure we can be here for today, tomorrow and the future.
You can help to ensure the hospice is here for future you, future friends, family, and neighbours.
This year alone, around 2,500 people will benefit from our help completely free-of-charge, both within the hospice and within their own homes. Every day the St Michael’s team strive to make a difference to people in their final days or weeks, and importantly guide loved ones through the darkest of days. We’re lucky enough to often hear how our care staff go above and beyond with their expertise, knowledge and compassion.
It’s the people who make it happen
Our care, love and support is down the incredible people delivering it. And that’s why this appeal is so important. With your help, we will be able to continue to recruit, develop and retain highly trained nurses, health care assistants and support staff to deliver the care so desperately needed across our county.
So, instead of sending cards and balloons for our 40th birthday, we’re asking you to gift a donation to this appeal instead.
Tomorrow isn’t promised. And neither is the future of our Hospice without your help.
You’ve probably seen in the news the sad situation many other Hospice’s are finding themselves in during recent times. This year, it will cost a staggering £12.5m to run St Michael’s Hospice. With only 18% of our total income coming from the government this year, this means that around £10m needs to be raised by our incredible community to help keep us going.
£12.5m per year
It costs a staggering £12.5million per year to run the Hospice and keep delivering our essential care free of charge to the community.
£10m in fundraising
We rely on our amazing community, businesses and trusts to help us raise the £10million needed every year to offer our care.
18% in funding
Considering the vital role Hospice’s play, we only receive 18% of our operating costs from the Government.
2,400 patients
Your donations and fundraising means that we can care for over 2,400 patients across Herefordshire this year.
10,000 home visits
Within a year, over 10,000 visits are made to people’s homes who are receiving Hospice at Home care.
24hrs / 365 days
We are on-hand 24hours a day, 365 days a year for our patients. Our care never stops.
We are proud to have such a wonderful, compassionate and supportive community here in Herefordshire, truly showing how you rally round and come together to support us.
We’d love your support to help us raise this vital 400K this October so that we can be here for the next 40 years.
You can make our 40th year really count – please share this campaign widely and donate today.
