Barclays support eBay fundraisers

When Shirley Williams died almost a year ago to the day, her family decided to support St Michael’s as a thank you for the care she received.

But having sorted out many of her old clothes for donation, they were left thwarted by the national lockdown which forced the closure of our retail stores.

So, they turned to ebay and raised a staggering sum of around £4,000.

Their generosity was then boosted by Shirley’s daughter, Karen, who managed to secure an additional £1,000 from her employers, Barclays.

“We sold over 120 parcels through ebay in the end,” said Karen.

“It made a difficult time a little bit easier and, in a strange way, it’s comforting knowing there’s some of Shirley’s items dotted all over the country.”

Karen is pictured handing over a cheque alongside her father Terry (right) and Matt Ashcroft, our Events & Community Fundraising Manager.
