An annual cricket match set-up by sports-mad Hereford twins to raise funds for St Michael’s Hospice has had one of its most successful years to date.
Money raised by Adam and Robert Matravers during the Richard Matravers Memorial Cricket Match is closing in on £15,000.
It follows the latest match, held at Bartestree and Lugwardine Cricket Club, which fetched £1,317 thanks to a raffle, auction and sponsorship.
The annual series began back in 2012 when Adam and Robert came up with the idea of staging a match in memory of their cricket-mad father, Richard, who died at St Michael’s.

Each summer, the twins gather friends, relatives and colleagues for a game, with a brother captaining each team.
The matches took on even greater significance in 2017 when the brothers’ mum, Mim, also died at St Michael’s.
“This year has been another great success, with a wonderful amount raised for St Michael’s,” said Adam, whose team won the match by 22 runs and go 6-4 up in the series.
“We’re constantly overwhelmed by the support we receive at these matches, and we’d like to thank everyone who helped us raise this vital money for St Michael’s.”
