Forget-me-not display raises almost £20K
A moving display of ceramic flowers beside Hereford Cathedral has captured the hearts of the community by helping raise thousands of pounds for a county charity.
Hundreds of blue and silver forget-me-nots took pride of place in the Cathedral’s Lady Arbour during a recent nine-day installation.
The eye-catching display was part of a St Michael’s Hospice fundraiser, with supporters invited to purchase one of the flowers in memory of a loved one, or simply to add some colour to their home or garden.
Over 500 were sold, with almost £20,000 raised for St Michael’s to continue the charity’s palliative and end-of-life care and support.
“The forget-me-not has, in many ways, become the symbol of St Michael’s,” said Matt Ashcroft, the Hospice’s Head of Community Fundraising.
“We hope these flowers will provide some everlasting colour and perhaps a positive reminder of what St Michael’s Hospice is all about; care, compassion and reassurance.
“I’d like to thank everyone who purchased one of these beautiful ceramic flowers, or simply came to spend a few quiet moments of reflection in the Lady Arbour during the installation.”
The figure raised includes the generous support from appeal sponsors Bayley Brothers.
