Could you be the next Benny Bear?
Help us spread smiles at St Michael’s Hospice
We’re looking for volunteers to step into Benny’s famous bear suit at our events and open days, and it might just be the most fun role you’ll ever try.
You’ll be bringing joy to families, creating memorable moments, and helping us connect with our community in a truly special way. And don’t worry, we’ll give you full support (right down to getting on his iconic dungarees!).
So,who is Benny?
Benny the Bear is the much‑loved mascot of St Michael’s Hospice. You’ll spot him at events, cheering people on, posing for photos and sharing plenty of hugs along the way. He’s a friendly, familiar face who helps make every event feel warm, welcoming and full of life.
Why do we have Benny?
Benny helps us start conversations that might otherwise feel difficult. Hospice care is incredibly important, but it can feel daunting. At St Michael’s, we gift memory teddy bears to children who have a family member staying with us to provide comfort, so it was only fitting that Benny became our mascot! Benny brings a sense of fun, comfort and approachability, helping people engage with what we do in a positive and uplifting way.
He’s also brilliant at drawing a crowd and raising awareness, helping more people discover the support we offer to local families.
Why it matters
Behind every Benny appearance is a real impact. By volunteering, you’re helping us reach more people, raise vital funds, and remind our community that St Michael’s Hospice is here for them.
Ready to get involved?
If you’ve got energy, a sense of fun, and don’t mind being the centre of attention for all the right reasons, we’d love to hear from you.
Step into Benny’s paws and help us make people smile. Volunteer today.
