"I was struck by St Michael's pioneering adoption of Supportive Care"
Our Spiritual Care Lead Peter Spence spoke to James Byron from Dorothy House Hospice
We always love to share our knowledge of all issues relating to palliative and end-of-life care.
So when we were approached by James from Dorothy House Hospice in Wiltshire, who wanted to learn more about our Spiritual Care offering led by Peter Spence, our Spiritual Care lead, we welcomed him with open arms.
Peter has researched and delivered presentations on the subject, entitled ‘Spiritual Care – It is just not what it used to be’.
The interview has been shared on Part of Life, an independent space for the sharing of thoughts about death and dying.
“At Part of Life, our shared mission is to explore all the aspects of death and dying as we seek to make death part of life,” said James. “Spiritual support is a huge component of end-of-life care. When I heard about Peter’s research, I was keen to explore his findings and help share his important work.
“St Michael’s is an incredible facility in an inspiring location. It is the kind of place it is impossible not to be moved and inspired by. I was particularly struck by your pioneering adoption of ‘Supportive Care’ as a way to define the holistic support that you offer and cannot thank you enough for sharing your work with me.”
