Howzat for a Friday phonecall?

Karen Magness found out she’d won our weekly Lottery jackpot just days before jetting off to Australia with her husband, Howard, to watch England’s cricketers try and regain the Ashes.

The £1,000 prize will be a welcome boost to holiday funds, and comes at the perfect time as the couple prepare for their well-deserved break.

“The trip is a treat for both my husband, who turned 60 this year, and myself as I’ve just completed nearly 18 months of treatment for breast cancer, of which I’m now all clear,” said Karen.

She says she is well aware of the importance of St Michael’s. Her grandmother – Nan Mussell – and Howard’s mother, Valerie, both received care here many years ago.

“They both received the best care, and this made those last few days so comforting for us,” added Karen.
