“It was a really tough challenge, particularly as we aren’t exactly keen runners, but the motivation of running in our Dad’s memory and for such a worthy cause meant we were never going to give in.”

Brothers Dan and James Powell topped £10K during a fundraising challenge for St Michael’s in memory of their dear dad, Gary.

The siblings were among the first to tackle the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon, having pledged to raise funds for St Michael’s as a thank you for the care given to their father, who died in February 2023.

“We chose St Michael’s as they were absolutely brilliant in caring for Dad towards the end of his life,” said Dan. “I struggle to comprehend how the staff there do it day in day out with such a positive attitude. It’s unbelievable and they are a true inspiration.”
