Matt's Everest challenge in memory of wife Jacqui
Matt Ridgway will climb Mt Olympus in Greece, and trek to Everest Base Camp
We felt on top of the world after hearing about Matt Ridgway’s plans to raise money for us.
The St Michael’s supporter is gearing up to climb Mt Olympus in Greece in the coming weeks, before spending October climbing to Everest Base Camp and the Three High Passes.
Matt’s motivation is the care St Michael’s provided his wife, Jacqui, during her time at the Hospice. She died at St Michael’s last August.
“Thanks to these fabulous people, the last two weeks of Jacqui’s life whilst battling pancreatic cancer were largely pain free and spent in beautiful surroundings, meaning she was at peace at the end,” said Matt. The Everest trip will be extra special as he will mark Jacqui’s birthday whilst over there.
He hopes to raise an enormous £5,000 and is already well on the way.
