When a group of lifelong friends decided to hold a fundraising lunch this summer, they couldn’t have dreamed how successful it would be.

But their hard work and determination ensured 400 people descended on Grendon Manor in Bredenbury one day in late July, raising an enormous £40,000 – double their target!

This incredible figure – raised largely through tickets, an auction and raffle – will be split between St Michael’s and the Macmillan Renton Unit at Hereford County Hospital.

Many of the organising team have close connections to both beneficiaries, including Lisa Legge whose dad, ‘Chubby’, died at the beginning of 2020. The lunch was held in his memory.

“He was cared for so well by both St Michael’s and the Renton Unit, and it was this experience, along with those of many others in our community, which started us thinking about this fundraiser,” said Lisa, who is pictured (centre) with Amy (right), our Events and Community Fundraiser, and Katie (right) from the Macmillan Renton Unit.

Thank you so much to those who organised and attended this event.

You were truly part of something special!
