Ten-year-old’s technology detox for St Michael’s

Like most ten-year-olds, Charlie Wood enjoys spending some of his free time making the most of modern technology.

But for the next week (until next Monday, 18th), the Sutton School pupil is on a self-imposed technology ban having decided to ditch the gadgets in a bid to raise money for St Michael’s.

It means Charlie’s iPad, Xbox and Wii have been packed away by his parents, with access to the family computer only allowed for homework.

‘I love watching my iPad, especially YouTube,’ said Charlie on his JustGiving page. ‘My parents are always moaning at me to get off it.

‘That’s why this is a real challenge for me as seven days without my iPad or Xbox will be tough.’

Charlie has already beaten his fundraising target of £100 and hopes to raise as much as he can by next Monday (18th).

‘He came up with the idea all by himself,’ said dad Steve. ‘I think it’s fantastic.’
