Paint Runner Wales is St Michael’s Hospice first challenge event to take place in Wales and is helping to raise funds to offer the local community the best possible end of life care.

Thumping beats got people dancing, creating a high energy party atmosphere to put people in the mood for a spectacular mid-summer event.

Paint Runner Wales hopes to raise £20,000 for St Michael’s and is part of the Hospice ‘Reaching out for Radnorshire’ campaign. The fundraiser is making it possible for the Hospice to continue to care for patients and their families living in Mid-Wales.

After finishing the 5K run with her family and plastered in paint, Katy Cherrington from Brecon said, ‘I have never done anything like this before. It’s great family entertainment. I had lots of fun throwing paint over my kids and husband during the mass warm-up. It’s just been a very special day. It was emotional as well and seeing so many people supporting such a good cause brought a tear to my eye.’

Katy’s friend Helen said, ‘I loved every minute and I think my new hair colour looks great. We didn’t know that much about St Michael’s Hospice before the event but we have raised sponsorship because we have learned about the care they provide in Mid-Wales.’

Cecilia Horwood from Llandrindod Wells took part along with her children Gene and Ruben, ‘We raised £25 in sponsorship for St Michael’s and we have had a great time getting covered in every colour under the sun with amazing people. I know about the work St Michael’s does in the community so it’s great to support them.’

Matthew Ashcroft, Events Manager at St Michael’s Hospice, said, ‘The day is all about having fun with friends and family. We would like to thank everyone who helped make the event possible, especially to the Hereford-based Rapid Response Team who helped marshal the event and provided event goers with refreshments, helping make the day safe and fun.’

You can see over 300 photos from the event on the St Michael’s Hospice, Hereford Facebook page.

Anyone wanting to join in the fun at next year’s event on Saturday 25th June 2016, can email events@st-michaels-hospice.org.uk to be placed on the priority entry list.
