Adam Jones, HSBC Leominster Branch Manager, said, ‘We really wanted to help because we know how important the Hospice retail stores are for raising money to provide care for our local community. I have experienced first- hand the fantastic care at St Michael’s when my father passed away over four years ago. The professionalism and care they provided couldn’t be matched. Many of our staff and customers also have family members who have needed St Michael’s Hospice and we wanted to do something to show our true appreciation.’
Each year it costs £4.6million to run St Michael’s Hospice and around £2million of that money is raised by the Hospice Retail Team. None of this would be possible without the 750 amazing volunteers and the kind-hearted people who donate to the 17 retail outlets based in and around Herefordshire.
Paula Highly from HSBC Leominster commented, ‘There was a great sense of camaraderie in the store and we were all made to feel very welcome. I never guessed just how much work goes on behind the scenes in all the shops to make it all happen. I learned a great deal from the experience and it was fun meeting some of our of bank customers in the store and hearing about all the different things they buy from the shop.’
Liz Went, Area Manager for St Michael’s Hospice Retail, said, ‘We were thrilled to have HSBC staff join the team. They were very enthusiastic and it’s fantastic to know that we have such support from the local business community.’
