About the role
St Michael’s Volunteer to Career Project offers a personalised programme of training, guidance and support for those considering a career in healthcare. You would be expected to commit to a minimum of 60 hours of volunteering over a 3 – 4-month period, where you can develop your portfolio of skills and evidence. On successful completion of the programme you will receive a certificate of achievement along with your portfolio of evidence. You will then have several options open to you, remain as a volunteer, explore other roles and opportunities, start planning to embark on your chosen health career. If any appropriate vacancies arise that you decide to apply for, you would automatically be shortlisted and offered an interview (this does not guarantee a job offer).Â
The VtC training would include:Â
- General induction training – in person & e-learningÂ
- Taster session – in chosen areaÂ
- Personal Portfolio Pack – developed together with Education TeamÂ
- Skills relevant to chosen roleÂ
- Mandatory training Â
- Opportunities to ‘shadow’ healthcare professionalsÂ
Additional optional training:Â
- Careers information & signpostingÂ
- CV writing & personal statementsÂ
- Interview techniquesÂ
- Access to functional skills training / assessments in math’s & English Â
