How’s this for jumping in at the deep end?

Sarah Harris is preparing for her first ever triathlon – and it just happens to be the world’s largest.

She volunteered to take part in July’s London Triathlon on behalf of St Michael’s Hospice, which was awarded a place following a ballot by TSB Bank.

‘I have been thinking about doing a triathlon for a while,’ she said.

‘I’ve never done one before.

‘I think my friends and family were a bit shocked that I had signed up.’

Sarah is competing in the Olympic category which features a 1,500m swim, 40km bike and 10km run.

Since signing up she has joined Hereford Triathlon Club and is trying to raise £500 for St Michael’s.

Sarah says she isn’t too concerned by the swim or cycle – she has completed the Hospice’s cycle fundraiser Wheelie Big Cycle in the past – but describes running as her weak part.
