This group is designed to promote more effective support for the families and friends of Hospice and Community Specialist Care patients. The group has developed its agenda over time and has stimulated friendships and mutual understanding between all participants: patients, carers, staff and volunteers. Both the carer and the person they care for are invited to come along together.
It is often the case that the healthcare needs of a person being cared for take priority during a family’s day-to-day routine. Over time, carers in such situations can become very tired, physically run down, socially isolated or depressed. Watching someone you love become ever more poorly can be intensely disheartening.
Hand-in-Hand is a group that shares warmth, care and understanding. The group meets monthly on a Monday at St Michael’s Hospice from 11 am – 2 pm.
