Hereford: A (very) brief history
Hereford is a cathedral city and the county town of Herefordshire.
It lies on the River Wye and has a population of almost 60,000.
Arguably its claim to fame is housing the SAS (Special Air Service) just outside the city.
It is also home to the Hereford Mappa Mundi, a medieval map of the known world dating from around 1300.
It is displayed at Hereford Cathedral where a Chained Library can also be found, dating back to the early 17th Century.
