Health and Wellbeing service
At St Michael’s Hospice we aim to help people live well for longer
Our professional staff and trained volunteers are committed to improving the quality of life for our patients, their family and carers.
Our professional staff and trained volunteers are committed to improving the quality of life for our patients, their family and carers.
We care for cancer and non-cancer patients, and because everyone’s illness is unique, we offer a wide range of specialist care services.
Assisted bathing
St Michael’s assisted bathing service is available free of charge to anyone over the age of 18, with a Herefordshire GP, who has been diagnosed with a terminal illness.
People who wish to take a bath or shower, but may find it difficult or uncomfortable, can visit St Michael’s Hospice to enjoy a relaxing soak in our specially designed, spacious bathroom.
An electric hoist operated by trained staff will ensure that people using the service can bathe in safety and comfort.
Feeling relaxed and pampered often has a significant effect on how good we feel and can increase our sense of wellbeing.
St Michael’s Hospice can even offer rubber ducks and bubble bath as optional extras.
After having a bath, people visiting St Michael’s can also access other Hospice services and facilities including:
- Cafe
- Hairdressing
- Complementary therapy
- Hand and nail treatment
- Discussing future care needs with trained staff
We ask that people using the Health and Wellbeing service make their own way to and from St Michael’s Hospice.
