An eighty-four-year-old granddad is taking on a zip wire challenge to kick-off a bucket list of events in aid of St Michael’s Hospice.
Michael Herbert was recently diagnosed with a terminal illness, almost a year after losing his wife, Mari, to cancer.
The couple lived in Wellington, with Mari spending her last days at St Michael’s Hospice last October.
His family, led by granddaughter Morgan Leyshon, has now created a bucket list of challenges for Michael, starting with the zip wire experience on September 24. All proceeds from sponsorship will go to the Hospice.
‘We cannot thank the heaven-sent staff (at St Michael’s) enough for all the support, kindness, care and time they gave,’ said Morgan.
‘The bucket list has been created to help my granddad to live, laugh and raise money for this very worthy cause.
‘Watch this space for granddad’s next challenge.’
