Gareth listened to the song on St Michael’s YouTube channel and afterwards sent a signed photo to Denise with an accompany letter saying how great it was to listen to her song “Because of you…’

The song was written by Denise to say thank you to the thousands of people who support St Michael’s Hospice and to help celebrate care the Hospice has provided to the community of Herefordshire over the past 30 years.

Denise said, ‘Each day at St Michael’s I see money coming in from the local community; although we do thank each of those people individually I wanted to do something extra to show our appreciation. We have everything from children giving small amounts of their pocket money to people leaving legacies of over £1million in their wills. I wanted to show that these generous donations make a massive difference to the Hospice and they all leave a very special community legacy.’

The song was first performed at the Hospice’s 30th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service in October 2014 and the positive response and requests from the community to hear the song again inspired Denise to arrange a recording session at Hereford’s KJM Studios and publish the track on YouTube so everyone can enjoying listening to the song.

‘Because of you…’ is sung by 14-year-old Emily Prosser and accompanied by Bronwyn Wilkins playing her Venus Harp. Emily, who also sings soprano in the Hereford Cathedral School Cantabile Choir, said ‘When I first read the lyrics I knew it would be a very emotional song to sing. It is so beautifully written and it has such a lovely sentiment. I feel very proud to be playing my part in saying thank you to everyone who has supported St Michael’s Hospice.’
