Visit two gardens nestled in countryside between Hereford and Ledbury with varied attractions including areas of wildflower, a small orchard and a newly-built walled garden.
When Virginia moved to Abbots Place in 2014, she decided to start restructuring the garden. The front garden was replanted in 2015, apart from the trees and lawn. The garden, which is completely organic, has interest all-year-round interest. Features include a wildflower area, herb garden, vegetable plot and fruit cages. Virginia loves growing and eating her home -grown vegetables.
Little Marcle Court is a late sixteenth century farmhouse in a six-acre plot. The grounds include woodland, meadow a small orchard and both more formal and informally planted areas. Paths meander through the meadows and wood connecting a number of different areas containing lawns, flower-beds and a beech labyrinth set inside a yew hedge ‘room’. In the middle of the land is an entirely new walled garden built in 2010, which is set out with individual cultivated beds containing fruit, vegetables and flowers. There are numerous places to sit and enjoy the garden and its views, sights and scents.
